The surface pattern designer, Sarah Watkins, was born in Ilkley and attended Ilkley Grammar School. She studied Graphic Design at Bradford College, graduating in 1987.

Currently based in Skipton, Sarah has worked in the graphic design and illustration field for over 27 years, including work for major commercial organisations, e.g. Tesco, Otto, and Damart. She was also the owner of her own children’s furniture manufacturer and design company, and currently works as a freelance surface pattern designer, selling her own designs and working on commissioned projects for clients in the UK and overseas.

Her range over the years has included designs for greetings cards, wrapping paper, packaging, home and gift products, and fabric design. Sarah has also recently started to design and produce her own fabric range.
Sarah has been featured in the popular Print and Pattern blog; see example at Print & Pattern and is also the author/illustrator of A Colouring Guide to Yorkshire (2018), published by Jeremy Mills Publishing (see below).
