Nancy Stedman, has had two main careers in her life to date: land management; and art: as a multimedia artist, and arts administrator. She says of her multimedia art work:
Landscapes may appear static, but they are of course constantly changing, and much of my work revolves around ways of recording and displaying these changes. I have also attempted to capture the ephemeral experience of a distinctive landscape in simple sculptural forms.

Nancy studied Landscape Architecture at Gloucester College of Art and Design, worked for Brian Clouston and Partners (BCP), once one of the largest landscape architecture practices in Europe, before continuing her studies on a Masters Degree (1976/77) in Conservation and Ecology at University College, London. This was followed by work in landscape conservation and management for organisations including the Countryside Commission and Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Between 1991-94 Nancy attended Bretton Hall College, graduating with an honours degree in Fine Art (Sculpture). This led to a dual career path involving managing arts projects and teaching art appreciation, and working on a range of land management related projects, with clients that included the Countryside Agency, English Nature, English Heritage and the Environment Agency. Nancy was a Secretary of State appointed Member of the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority from 1998 to 2008, and from 2006 to 2014 was a senior landscape specialist with Natural England, working in the Yorkshire region advising on land management and land use.
Between 2005-2015 Nancy was Director at the South Square Centre, a local community arts resource, which includes exhibition space for local artists.

Nancy’s own art work has been exhibited locally at the Unit 9 gallery, South Square Centre, the Bradford 2017 Open at Cartwright Hall, and with Aire Valley Arts, of which she is a long standing member. Her work, for example, was represented in an Aire Valley Arts group exhibition April/May, 2016, at the Bingley Gallery.
