John Dockray’s paintings reflect and depict his global travels, as well as the Yorkshire countryside and people close to his home in Wilsden, near Bingley.

He attended Shrewsbury School of Art and completed an art Foundation course in 1971. He then moved to Yorkshire and studied at Bradford Regional College of Art, gaining in 1974 a Diploma in Film, Theatre & TV, with a final year specialism in photography. He later studied fine art at Hull College on a part-time basis during 1982.

John has lived in the Wilsden area since 1984 and has worked in the recruitment field for 30+ years. He has pursued a parallel career in painting and has had work exhibited at the Ferens Art Gallery, Hull, and at the Staithes Festival of Arts and Heritage.
