John Ridgill Trout (1877 – 1961) was a landscape and still-life painter, wood and metal worker, particularly in fine jewellery and church ornaments. He lived all his life in Manningham, Bradford, studied art at the Bradford Regional Art School, and taught art in local schools.
He is known to have exhibited work with the Yorkshire Union of Artists, and at Bradford Art Club shows at Cartwright Hall, Bradford, the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, and the Leeds Art Gallery. He had a solo exhibition of his work in 1952 at the Bradford Playhouse. He was the Hon. Secretary of the Bradford Arts Club for a number of years.
In 1962 a memorial exhibition of his work was held at Cartwright Hall, Bradford.
