Geraldine Thompson is a painter living in Addingham on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. Near to her home she has her Studio in Chapel Street.
She has an MA Fine Art from The University of Leeds and is an exhibiting member of Leeds Fine Artists. She has exhibited in London and widely in regional galleries.

Her work focuses on a personal response to her direct observational experiences. She says of her work:
It’s about colour and light. As a painter I have a particular interest in observing how the impact of colour is transformed by light to create an interconnectedness. I feel it’s important to immerse myself in closely observing my subject whether that is in portraiture, a landscape or flowers and everyday objects in the studio.
So I enjoy the natural environments of the land and coastal areas, of being out in the countryside in all weather, exploring the environment, fully experiencing the light and moods of the changing atmosphere and times of day while I make drawings, watercolour studies or small oil paintings.
In the studio, landscape paintings are usually larger oils on canvas based on the earlier research which I use to recall experiences, to explore additional creative processes which become an important aspect of the work.
