Nicky Storr is Bingley-based illustrator working. She left art college with a BA in Graphic Design and used her skills initially to work in the art of greetings cards.
However, the call and appeal of illustration and continuing drawing was a strong one for Nicky – and it saw her work in the world of children’s TV and character design for a number of years. Throughout this time she also diversified into pattern design, and even set design.
In recent years Nicky was the main teacher at Young Master’s Visual Art School where she shared her knowledge and skills with the next generation of Bradford artists. She said:
“I’m constantly in awe of the talent that is in children of all ages. My time at Young masters has been an absolute joy”.
Nicky says that working at Young Masters gave her an invaluable insight into teaching art and its various disciplines. She also accepts commissions for watercolour portraits in a fun children’s book style of loved ones and family. She says of her illustrative work:
‘I take inspiration from family, friends and Nature that is all around us – I want to create illustrations that make people smile.’
