Samuel Sharp is a Wilsden-based digital painter whose work is inspired by the landscape, towns and cities of northern England.

Samuel studied pharmacy to degree level in Manchester and is still a practising NHS pharmacist. But he has always been interested in art and during the COVID epidemic lockdown period, 2020-22, rediscovered his passion for artwork.
His digital sketches and paintings were and still are mainly produced between his shifts as a pharmacist:
My art is about pausing to observe the world around us, every day brings a new change, and I believe it’s important to document these moments. We are surrounded by beauty, and I’ve taken it upon myself to capture it.

His range of subjects is wide, including still life, but predominantly they reflect his engagement with and inspiration by the landscape of Yorkshire, and in particular scenes from the Bradford district, the Dales, and Yorkshire coast.
I feel a strong kinship with their sense of place. There’s something timeless in the way they saw the world, and I try to carry that forward in my own way.”

Although David Hockney has influenced his style, Samuel asserts that:
The influence is there, but I think our voices are different. Where Hockney often works on a grand scale, I’m drawn to the small, quiet moments.

Samuel began to display his work in his local village pharmacy, but now displays and sells his work widely, including online (see link below) as well as at regional art galleries and other local retail outlets.
His painting, ‘Thornton Viaduct’, was exhibited (and sold) at the ‘Our Place’ themed Bradford Art Show, during December 2025, at The Loading Bay gallery in central Bradford.
During 2025 he was also appointed as an Artist-in-Residence at the Bronte Parsonage in Haworth, where his work was displayed. Samuel also led a session at the Bradford Literary Festival in 2025, where he spoke about the creative process and influences on his style.
