The painter, Nigel Overton, was born 1952, in Doncaster. He now lives in Ilkley, where he has a studio: Overton Fine Arts.

He has a degree from Loughborough College of Art & Design in Drawing, Painting & Printmaking and completed a post-graduate teaching qualification at Leeds. Nigel advanced in teaching to become Head of Art and Design at a large school in Leeds, before working full time as a professional artist, although he continues to teach adult classes in the Wharfedale area and elsewhere.

He sketches and paints predominantly land and seascapes, using a variety of art medium, but particularly acrylics. Local landscape, the Yorkshire coast, and in recent years, the southern coast of Ireland, often feature in his work.
