LEEMING, Justin

 

 

Menston based graphic designer, photographer and artist, Justin Leeming, has over 30 years experience of working in the design and print industry.

Originally from Accrington in Lancashire, Justin did a Fine Art degree in Leicester specialising in painting and print-making in the early 1990s. Justin has lived in Wharfedale since the millennium.

He offers graphic design and illustration services, including photography, and is also a figurative painter. Working primarily in acrylic or oil on canvas, he produces one off, usually large scale pieces influenced by personal events. A graphic designer by trade, typography has started to feature more and more in his paintings.

Justin has exhibited his own artwork in open exhibitions and art trails in both Saltaire and Ilkley, the Bradford Open at Cartwright Hall, Munroe House in Leeds, Haworth Art Gallery in Accrington and Tinker Gallery in Ilkley.

His ‘Northern Tones Triptych’, (below) shown in the 2017 Bradford Open at Cartwright Hall, was praised by one of the judges, Von Allen.

 


The acrylic painting ‘From Where I’m Standing’ (below) won the People’s Vote at the Leicester Open in 1994.

 

 

His ‘THIEF’ painting (below) was selected for the New Light Art Prize Exhibition 2023/24 and was exhibited at the Williamson Art Gallery in Birkenhead, Bankside Gallery in London and the Rheged at Penrith. This artwork was last on display in 2022 at The Haworth Art Gallery and received a highly commended.

 

 

‘THIEF’ sold in the final weeks of the New Light and has been replaced for the remainder of the tour, at The Biscuit Factory in Newcastle and the Mercer Gallery in Harrogate, by ‘Garrulus Garamond (lower case j)’ (see below).
