Silk-screen print artist, Sarah Harris, from Shipley, studied initially at Bradford College on an Art Foundation Course (2001-2), before completing an honours degree  in Fashion Design at De Montfort University (2002-5).

After a period of employment in retail and marketing, Sarah attended an evening class at Leeds College of Art that introduced her to printmaking. In 2012 Sarah, with the support of the New Enterprise Allowance Scheme, began to work full-time as a self-employed professional artist selling her silk screen prints, from original hand drawn images, particularly of popular local places and landscape.

In 2013 Sarah was encouraged by gaining The Curzon Exhibition Award at the New Lights art prize for artists from Northern England under 35, which led to a solo show, ‘Discovering Yorkshire’ in Ripon. This was work based around the route of the Tour de France in Yorkshire, 2014. She also had two prints shortlisted for the Flourish Award, for excellence in Printmaking in Yorkshire, and her work was selected as ‘People’s Choice’. In 2015 a print of Brimham Rocks was shortlisted for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.

Two prints by Sarah were also included in the Bradford Open 2015 and 2017 at Cartwright Hall. Cartwright Hall was also was the host venue for Sarah’s ‘Re-discovering Yorkshire’ solo exhibition, April – September, 2017.

Sarah is also a member of the ‘Saltaire Inspired’ artists and her work has also been featured in exhibitions at Great North Art Show, Leeds Print Fair, and both Saltaire and Ilkley Art Trails, and at the South Square Gallery in Thornton. She has also had solo shows at Cartwright Hall (2017) and Bradford Cathedral (2018).

Sarah also leads workshops introducing people to silk screen printing, relief printing and monoprints. Her work was featured in the journal, ‘Women in Art and Design’, vol. 1, issue 1, 2015.
