Heather Cook was born 1945 at Riddlesden, near Keighley. She studied at Bradford College of Art and later at the Royal College of Art.
Heather was awarded a Shand Kydd Travel Scholarship and in 2011 a printmaking residency at Finish Print Centre, Jyvaskyla. Her collage works range from compositional studies to quite small atmospheric seascapes, which are emotional responses to the Lancashire coastline. She has a particular interest in the decorative opportunities and elements in discarded material (see example below):
Heather is a frequent North Yorkshire Open Studios exhibitor and has also exhibited work in a number of other Northern English galleries, including the Pendle Heritage Centre, Barrowford, Lancashire; Craven Museum, Skipton; and Linton Court Gallery, Settle. She now lives and works in Malham in the Yorkshire Dales and is married to the artist, David Cook.
