Frank Coleman was an oil and watercolour painter of rural genre and landscape scenes, including some Italian subjects. He lived in Bradford (around 1880) and Ilkley (around 1890/1) and exhibited work between 1885 -1895, most notably at the Royal Academy, Royal Society of British Artists, and Royal Scottish Academy. He also exhibited at the Agnew & Sons Gallery and the Dudley Gallery, both in London, and at the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool.
