Jane gained an A level in Art and completed the Art Foundation course at Blackburn College. She continued on to the HND (Multimedia) at the School of Art, Portsmouth Polytechnic, and later studied Fine Art at honours first degree level at the University of Hull.

Since leaving formal art education in the early 1990s, Jane has developed her own art work alongside tutoring and facilitating the creative talents of others, including in a local school, further education college, and in community settings. These have included the Bradford Curry Circle, Youth Train, and at Pied Piper Pianos and Gallery, in Haworth, where she has held weekly drop-in art sessions, as well as facilitating ‘muse’ workshops and exhibitions of work by local artists. Jane also sells her prints and cards from Pied Piper Pianos.

Jane also launched the ‘Spread the Love’ project (see link below). She says of this:

This is an ongoing project that I started in December, 2013. I make tiny ceramic hearts, infuse them with love and them with me wherever I go … I give them to people, post them out, leave them in the landscape to be found or to diffuse that love back into the earth. As a fell runner and artist, living in Haworth, I find this project allows me to get my art out there, simply, and in a way that I can express joyfully.
