KEMP, Fiona. Salts Mill at Evening

 

Painter and printmaker, Fiona Kemp, has studied and lived in Bradford for nearly 20 years, and has a particular interest in capturing the city and urban environment in her work. She has said of this:

I am fascinated by reflections, the distortions and blurring that are produced when the cityscape is viewed in windows and water. I also find interesting the way it is possible to view the interior of a building as well as the reflected exterior. By capturing these fleeting images I aim to depict the dynamics of the city.

Fiona completed a fine art at advanced Diploma level at Sheffield College of Art, then an art teaching diploma in London, before studying at Bradford College, 1996-8, for a MA in Printmaking.

Fiona uses a range of art medium, including watercolour, acrylic, and lino print and etching.  Her work has been exhibited at group exhibitions, including the Bradford Open on five occasions, most recently in 2015; the Great North Art Show; the Leeds City Gallery Open; Manchester Joint Exhibition; the Adze Gallery, York; and Tokarska Gallery, London.

Solo exhibitions have included shows at Bradford Industrial Museum, the Priestley Arts Centre, Bradford, and at Unit 9, South Square Gallery, Thornton.
