Amelia Crouch is a multi-media artist and art lecturer, resident in Bingley. She uses a range of media, including print, drawing, video, audio and installation to create artwork, using a combination of text and image, for galleries and other public spaces. Her often commissioned work explores the power of language, including: the relationship between text, physical space and image; the impact of words to evoke emotional responses; and the relationship of language to physical experience.

Amelia has a BA in Fine Art from the University of Leeds (2003), and a MA in Fine Art from Manchester Metropolitan University (2006), and Postgraduate Certificate in Social Sciences from The Open University. Past employment has included project management and arts administrator for organisations including The Northern Art Prize, Project Space Leeds, and Light Night, Leeds. She co-founded Leeds Art Walk and is a lecturer on the BA Fine Art degree at Leeds College of Art and works as an Arts Council assessor.
Her own artwork has been featured in exhibitions both across the UK and internationally, including in Britain at the Tate Modern in London and galleries in Leeds, Manchester, and Bradford. Overseas her work has been shown In Belgium, Mexico and Finland. Amelia’s work has also been screened, including films shown at the 2014 Northern Artist Film Programme in Salford, Bradford Festival, and Gnarl Fest at the University of Lincoln.
Recent examples: in 2013 Amelia’s work was shown in the Kindness Is….. Photography & text exhibition, involving a collaboration with Huddersfield residents and the photographer, Jonathan Turner, commissioned by Open-Art. In 2016 Amelia had a solo ‘Launch Pad’ exhibition at the Castleford Gallery, and in May 2017 was one of seven artists chosen to produce Uncommons 3, a music, performance, and visual art response to the exhibits and museum space of Cliffe Castle, Keighley.
Commissions have included work for Coventry Artspace, The Hepworth, Wakefield, Enfield Borough Council, Leeds City Council, and Leeds Railway Station, with Leeds Met Gallery.
Residencies have included the The Art House, Wakefield in 2014; and in 2013 at Arteles, Hämeenkyrö, Finland, and the The Queen of Hungary project space at Aylesham.
Amelia is part of the Black Dogs art collective and her work has been featured in the Black Dogs Quarterly publication. She is a also contributor to a-n magazine.
