Writer and freelance artist, Meg Cowley, is the creator and illustrator of a range of popular adult colouring books, as well as the author of the ‘Caledan‘ epic fantasy novels, and the ‘Diary of a Secret Witch’ books for children.  She lives near Ogden Moor.

Meg attended Bradford Girls’ Grammar School, but did not initially pursue an art career.  She worked in accountancy before studying for and gaining a first class honours degree in primary education at Leeds Beckett University.  After a spell in teaching, Meg decided to pursue two strong interests and talents in her life: writing and art.

She told the Bradford ‘Telegraph & Argus’ how she was drawn to illustration, when a friend asked whether she had come across adult colouring books.

Everyone was talking about ‘Secret Garden’ by Johanna Basford. That was the trailblazer. I thought that it was something I could work at.  I started a book and kept going …it is not about getting rich quickly, it is more about having a fulfilling job … It is the most wonderful feeling to have found success in something I love. (see ‘Telegraph & Argus’, October 25th 2016).
