Norman Bevan was predominantly a landscape and townscape painter, with a particular interest in industrial architecture and sites of historical interest.
Norman studied graphic design at Sheffield College of Art and worked as a graphics artist with the Health and Safety Executive. He took early retirement in 1980 to concentrate on his own work. He lived in the Bradford area and died in 2014.
He exhibited work at Cambrian Academy; New English Art Club; National Society of Painters; National Acrylic Painters Association; the Paris Salon (Silver Medallist); and at the Royal Academy. The Bingley Gallery has exhibited Norman’s work on a number of occasions, the last time in 2013.
Norman was an Honorary Member of the National Acrylic Painters Association, and a member of the Aire Valley Arts Group. He features in the booklet ‘The Spirit of Bradford. 18 Artists and a City’, published by Aire Valley Arts, 1997. ISBN 0/9530934/0/0
