Al-SAMARRAIE, Jacky: ‘My Art’

“My work to date is mostly focused on the British landscape, both rural and urban. I love creating a simplified representation of the landscape using silhouettes of trees on a skyline, then I add blocks of vibrant colour to bring it to life. Since creating my first landscape design in 2006, this has now become my signature style and what I am known for.”

“I travel around the UK collecting thousands of images for my reference library whilst out walking and enjoying the beauty of the countryside. I consider myself very fortunate to be able to combine one of the things I enjoy most, walking, with my work as a designer. From the images I collect I generally develop around 12 of them into a range of products, which include prints, cards, mugs, placemats & coasters, cushions & stationery.”

“I founded The Art Rooms in 2007 to showcase my work. I’ve had amazing success with the Landscape range that I find overwhelming sometimes. Every designer is looking for a new and unique idea that will be a commercial success.”

“I sell my products through independent gift shops, garden centres, museums and galleries & department stores, which include Tate Modern, Fenwick, House of Lords and John Lewis. We are currently supplying the new John Lewis store in Leeds in their ‘Made Local’ section.”
