Michael Acton was born and lived in the Low Moor area of Bradford.  He studied art at Bradford College and is currently developing his creative practice at the London Art College.  He paints, predominantly in oil and acrylics, and applies layers of thick paint to get the textured finish he seeks.

Michael’s work, often featuring bold sky and land or seascape scenes, is inspired and influenced by the terrain of the South Penninnes in general, and the Lancashire/ Yorkshire border in particular, where he now lives and works.

He has written of his work:

As a local artist I just love the moors round my home. Too be able too get out when the wind is howling is real experience. The best way to understand my art work is too get out on the Northern Fells and just walk or mountain bike and to experience the colour as the light changes.
